The Baker Group

Another husband and wife combo today. Again, the wife out did the husband, almost 2 to 1. The morning started out real slow. The rain last night, brought the water level up, almost 3 feet, so the slow water we were fishing, was now no longer available. All the guides today started out slow, and then we figured out where the fish would be, and it was on. In the one hole that we really stuck with, they were able to hook more than 40 fish, and they brought 31 to the boat. This was all within 2.5 hours. The fish were very aggressive today, and on the move. Large numbers of fish were pushing up with the new height in water. The fishing is just going to get better every day. Here are the pics, and a great vid, of a very aggressive Silver attacking a jig, right at the boat. Watch how many time this Silver turns around to take the Jig.

Shrum's

What a great group of guys the Shrum's are. This group has been visiting Yakutat Lodge now for several years. One member could not make it this year, and I would just like to say to Clairance, (We missed you this year, and we are all hoping everything works out, and we look forward to seeing get into some big fish next season). The fishing is still excellent, and the fish just keep on coming up. Here are the pics from my 2 days with the Shrums.

Husband and Wife (Holly and Ron)

Another great day on the Situk River. The fish are just everywhere at this point, and a push of new fish in the last couple of days, has really given' us some great fishing on the lower 2 miles of the river. The big males are showing up now, signifying the peak, and start of the end of the run this year. The big spawning males are usually the last to show up in the river, and they are the fighters most fisherman are looking for. These big males are very aggressive, and very strong. Randy, (One of the lodges long standing guides), brought in a nice 17.8 pound male yesterday, and I have seen some of the big hawgs in the system the last couple days. These new fish, will sustain the run through the end of the month, giving fisherman a good shot at landing large numbers of fish on a daily basis. If you are coming up, please spend the time to talk to one of the Yakutat Lodges guides, to find out exactly what the fish are biting on, and also just for the knowledge of where the fish are running and being caught. Here are the pics from today.

The Bartenders and I

Today I had the day off, so I took my Fiancé' (Amanda), and Kim, (The other bartender at the lodge), down the river. They had to be back by 2 O,clock, so they could make it to work. It was a quick row, but we had some good fishing. Kim forgot to get a fishing license, so we were only able to keep 4 fish, but we landed about 20. The weather was perfect for fishing, and the water is the perfect height now. Here are the pics from today.
