Two days with Paul and Clancy

The weather is still the enemy this week. I had two clients, that I have fished with for the last few years, and they are great guys to have in the boat. Although the fishing was not that great, they still hooked a bunch of fish, and landed a few along the way. The big news though, is that Paul got the first Sockeye of the year at the Yakutat Lodge. It was a bit of a challenge landing the first one, but after hooking about 20 between the two of them, Paul got one to the boat. Clancy also lost a big Sockeye at the last minute of the day. These Sockeye are very aggressive right now, and very strong, being out of the ocean for just few hours. We got tore up by a few nice fish. We were using a jig that consists of hollow lead,(painted pink), with a bead, then a hook. If you move this up and down in the water real fast, it gets the Sockeye going, and they will attack it with ferocity. We do get the Sockeye to bite, and this is evident when you can watch them chase the jig, and then attack it. Here are the pics from the Steelhead, and the First Sockeye of the season.

Hey, that is a nice Dolly that Clancy has!  Aaron, we had two great days - we both enjoyed the days even without getting alot of fish to the boat.  We left when the rain started - looks like the rain got the bite started again.  See you next year - girls are so jacked with the halibut fishing they want to come back about the same time.
